SPECIFICATIONS: 

• 10 inches tall, 10 inches outwards from wall, 1/2 inch thick, 2” wide.
• Rated to hold up to 50 lbs.
• Rated to hold up to a 6” thick board.
• Includes 2 pegs for each rack (a single set of pegs is needed to ensure the board in stays in place. A second set of pegs can be used to hold paddles behind the board once it is mounted).

QUALITY:

• Laminated strips of wood with front and back, dark red, wood veneer.
• 3/16 recycled neoprene rubber grips. These slip resistant strips cover the rack from peg to peg. Thoughtful, functional design.

INSTALLATION:

The install is straight forward and took us approximately 40 minutes from the time it took to read the instructions to finding wall studs, measuring, marking, drilling screws and mounting of the board.

As expected Most of the installation time is taken up finding the studs, measuring, and marking. Our install was measured for a 11 ft. 2 in. x 30 in. x 4 1/2 in. board. We inserted the oar pegs (optional). The board easily fit with this set-up. We also mounted a 12 1/2 ft. 29 in. x 6 in. board after removing the oar pegs—this longer board easily fit as well.

WHAT I KNOW FOR SURE:

This minimalist design is impressive. When we opened the package from Hawaiian Gun Rack our first impression was the aesthetic pleasure they offer. This rack-set has an undeniable elegance both alone and certainly when holding a board. It is a simple, beautiful, pure design. The minimal use of materials is impressive–the result is visual elegance. Built with an eye to include function and beauty, strength and stability. Before this writing Dennis Kahn owner of Hawaiian Gun Rack states "We started making them out of all bamboo – we have currently made our most sustainable product yet made with all sustainable materials - recycled cork neoprene grip strips to keep the board in place and a 2 tone bamboo color scheme where the light colored bamboo core is wrapped with 2 outer layers of caramelized bamboo." ..."We are working to create mostly sustainable products and we hope to have these available either by christmas or early next january."

NOTE: Carefully read the on-line description to select your choice of rack-set. The "Brunette surf rack 25" looks similar to the "Brunette SUP rack 50". The difference is the amount of screws and the weight bearing limit: "25" indicates hold up to 25 lbs. and "50" indicates hold up to 50 lbs.
